Echad Anointing Oil

A High Priest Oil

The anointing oil prescribed in the Old Testament was a special mixture of olive oil with myrrh, sweet smelling cinnamon, sweet smelling cane ( calamus and Kaneh-Bosem), and cassia (Exodus 30:23-25).

This oil was used to anoint people set apart by God as well as the instruments and articles of worship in the Tabernacle.

Psalm 133:1-3 A song of David . . .

Behold, how good and pleasant it is for brethren (the family of God) to DWELL together in UNITY!

It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down Aaron's beard, down upon the collar of his robes.

It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion.

Hermon is the very loftiest peak in all the land of Palestine, and from its snowy cap, when all the surrounding country is parched, the refreshing dew descends upon the mountains of Zion; and this is one of the figures used by the Holy Ghost to illustrate the beauty and pleasantness of brethren dwelling together in unity.

What was so special about the dew of Hermon

was the scarcity of water in the dry lands,

which makes Mount Hermon's dews so precious!

For there the Lord bestows His blessing, even life forevermore.

There is a special anointing that is released in the place of unity!

Jesus's prayer of unity in the gospel of John 17 is that we would be one! Even as He and the Father were one!

In Deuteronomy 6:4 is the Hebrew word "shema".

This is considered the first command in the Hebrew culture based on the first word of the command, "shema".

"Hear, O Israel; The LORD our God is one Lord ".

The hebrew word translated "one" here is the hebrew word "echad".

Which means properly means "United".

God knows how much work it takes for His sons and daughters to get along let alone become united and move in oneness.

When brethren dwell together in unity there is a release of oil and there is a commanded blessing.

But it is also a position of POWER.

When you stand in a position of unity you can decree

against the false unity of darkness.

You can decree the break-up of the coalition of darkness.

Jesus is our High Priest and if we as one are close to Him, the dew, the ointment, the anointing, the joy, will flow from Him to us!
